Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team at Albuquerque Public Schools. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a critical role in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students with diverse needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs): Collaborate with students, parents, and other educators to create personalized learning plans that cater to each student's unique needs and abilities.
  • Design and Deliver Inclusive Lessons: Plan and implement engaging and interactive lessons that promote academic, social, and emotional growth among students with varying learning styles and abilities.
  • Provide Support and Accommodations: Offer individualized support and accommodations to students with special needs, ensuring they have equal access to educational opportunities and resources.
  • Communicate Effectively: Maintain open and regular communication with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure seamless collaboration and support.
  • Assess and Evaluate Student Progress: Regularly assess and evaluate student progress, making data-driven decisions to inform instruction and make adjustments as needed.
Requirements
  • Education and Licensure: Bachelor's degree and current New Mexico teaching certificate endorsed in the area(s) to be taught.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Effective communication skills, flexibility, organization, decision-making, and problem-solving skills; knowledge of APS community, computer systems, financial procedures, and legal requirements.
