Position Overview: The Chief of Campus Safety and Risk Management will spearhead the administrative leadership and strategic oversight of security operations, risk management, and emergency preparedness initiatives. This role is integral to upholding CBC's core values, including student learning, excellence, diversity, equity, inclusion, sustainability, and overall wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Management: Direct and oversee the Security and Emergency Management department, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
- Emergency Preparedness: Collaborate with emergency management teams to develop and implement comprehensive emergency preparedness plans and training programs.
- Collaboration: Serve as a key advisor to college leadership on emergency readiness and facilitate communication with external emergency response entities.
- Training and Drills: Lead the planning and execution of safety drills and emergency preparedness training for staff and security teams.
- Communication: Act as the primary contact for internal communications regarding security and risk management, coordinating with public relations for external messaging.
- Campus Safety: Ensure continuous campus security coverage and oversee the implementation of security systems and protocols.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to relevant laws and regulations, including the Clery Act and Title IX.
- Strategic Planning: Contribute to the strategic direction of safety and security initiatives.
- Risk Management: Conduct annual risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate identified risks.
- Contractor Relations: Engage with contractors to enhance campus security measures.
- Employee Development: Foster a collaborative and service-oriented team environment, conducting performance evaluations and managing departmental policies.
- Budget Oversight: Manage the departmental budget, ensuring responsible financial practices.
- Reporting: Maintain accurate records and prepare necessary reports.
- Additional Duties: Undertake other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, emergency management, public administration, or a related field.
- A minimum of three years of supervisory experience in emergency management, public safety, or a related area.
- Experience in budget management.
- Valid US driver's license with a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in a relevant field.
- Knowledge of National Incident Management Systems (NIMS).
- Experience in risk assessment and management.
- Familiarity with the Clery Act and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in standard office software.
Work Environment: This is a full-time administrative position requiring flexibility in work hours, including evenings and weekends as necessary. The role involves a mix of office and campus environments, with some travel required.
