Essential Qualifications: Must hold a valid license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the state of Vermont (prior to start date). Graduates from an AMA accredited program for Respiratory Care are preferred. Candidates must achieve Registered Respiratory Therapist status by the NBRC within one year of employment. Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and PALS are required.
JOB SUMMARY:
This role involves delivering professional respiratory care to patients across various health conditions by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care strategies. The Level I Specialist is responsible for providing and supervising care for adult ICU patients and all individuals requiring respiratory support in general units, including adult, pediatric, and cystic fibrosis cases. The specialist must be capable of responding swiftly to emergencies and enduring repetitive physical tasks. This position necessitates standing for the majority of the shift and serving patients in diverse settings. The specialist may be required to take on Charge responsibilities and/or work in the Emergency Department upon successful completion of necessary proficiencies. Maintaining competencies as defined by departmental standards in both adult ICUs and general units is mandatory. New hires are expected to complete competencies within one year of their start date.
EXPERIENCE: Both new graduates and seasoned professionals are encouraged to apply. SHIFT DETAILS: Our shifts are structured for 12 hours, operating from either 7 am – 7 pm or 7 pm – 7 am. Staff members work three shifts a week, totaling 72 hours per pay period, with weekend and holiday rotations. Multiple day and night positions are available. SIGN-ON BONUS: New external candidates may qualify for a one-time sign-on bonus: $5,000 for those with less than three years of relevant experience or $10,000 for those with three or more years of relevant experience. The bonus is distributed in three equal payments following the date of hire: after 90 days of service, and at the 1st and 2nd year anniversaries in the role. Please note that all bonuses are subject to applicable taxes. Current employees of the University of Vermont Health Network are not eligible for this bonus.
