Your Contributions

  • Establish clear methodologies for gathering, compiling, and analyzing data from various sources, including physical work sites, surveys, blueprints, GIS data, subsurface utility information, maps, hydrologic analysis, geotechnical data, and other matrices essential for project development, design, and construction.
  • Conduct professional civil engineering tasks and perform research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, resources, buildings, and infrastructure to ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and construction or operational permits.
  • Create construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates; develop construction safety and phasing plans, and update infrastructure layout plans that necessitate coordination with stakeholders, other disciplines, sub-consultants, and clients.
  • Collaborate as an individual and as part of a multidisciplinary team of engineers, geologists, planners, and science professionals to execute project work across multiple concurrent projects, assist in laying out installations, establishing reference points/elevations/grades for construction, calculating costs and quantities of materials/equipment/labor, and ensuring project compliance with specifications, permit applications, and regulatory and technical analysis documentation.
  • Prepare data visualizations such as tables, charts, accurate reports, sketches, calculations, and illustrations for data interpretation or presentation.
  • Maintain quality control standards and procedures for precise measurements, statistical analysis, and reporting.
  • Assist in the development and scoping of medium-sized projects.
  • Provide mentorship and training to junior engineers.
  • Draft technical reports and presentations that articulate research, findings, and recommendations to enhance, prevent, control, restore, or address design and/or construction challenges or opportunities.
  • Assist in analyzing, evaluating, and interpreting data obtained during field investigations, contributing to the development of action plans for moderate- to high-level risk mitigation activities.
  • Prepare and implement site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs).
  • Adhere to regulatory requirements concerning data integrity, documentation, procedures, training, monitoring systems, and record compliance and retention.
  • Engage with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a confident and professional manner.
  • Stay updated on the latest civil engineering techniques and practices.
  • Work collaboratively with other engineers and planners on projects involving infrastructure authorities for federally, state, regionally, and locally funded improvement and development initiatives.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company resources and conduct, adhering to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant post-education experience in engineering, with prior civil design experience.
  • Engineer in Training Certification.
  • Proficient understanding of civil engineering principles, practices, processes, design/build, and their application to permitting and project-related issues.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective interaction with diverse audiences.
  • Exceptional self-leadership with attention to detail, multitasking, and prioritization in a dynamic work environment.
  • Project management experience with small to mid-level projects, including tracking hours and expenses.
  • Working knowledge of relevant civil construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
  • Ability to perform technical computations and calculations using engineering principles, understanding plans and specifications, and making factual comparisons to applicable regulations.
  • Capability to plan and conduct inspections and investigations related to various aspects of construction and design, applying relevant regulations and policies.
  • Ability to work independently while providing guidance and leadership to junior team members, with strict adherence to QA/QC.
  • Proficiency in technical writing, office automation, discipline-specific design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, Slide, GeoSlope, HEC-RAS, RocScience, OpenGround), technology, mathematical principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools.
  • Developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills necessary for applying technical knowledge to derive conclusions from testing results, data collation, and statistical analysis, leading to effective, economical, and logical solutions.
  • Ability to confidently direct others in the field, such as subcontractors, to ensure tasks are completed safely and efficiently.
  • Flexibility to work schedules that align with project-specific requirements, which may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary based on project-specific needs.
  • Must successfully complete and pass WSP's Motor Vehicle screening.
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and adherence to WSP's health, safety, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Licensure.
  • Familiarity with processes and concepts aimed at reducing and eliminating hazardous substances and greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Master's Degree in Engineering.
  • Experience managing small to mid-size projects.
  • 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR).
  • Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training.

Compensation:

Expected Salary: $90,600 - $130,300

WSP USA is providing this compensation range based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances unrelated to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
