Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Planner to join our team at Nationwide Private Client. As a Financial Planner, you will play a critical role in supporting our Government/Public sector clients with their retirement planning needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Advise clients and internal/external sales representatives on retirement income plan development, including explanation of product features and administrative procedures.
  • Review and/or prepare comprehensive financial plans and needs-based assessments using approved financial planning software.
  • Prepare alternatives and recommendations, framing the plan for presentation/delivery to the client.
  • Partner with Sales to ensure awareness of open proposals with producers to drive status and outcome.
  • Develop and conduct producer training in the corporate office and in the field.
  • Meet all regulatory requirements, support and coordinate under applicable laws, rules and regulations.
  • Adhere to all firm compliance and supervisory policies, including anti-money laundering/Office of Foreign Asset Control and/or privacy policies and procedures.
  • Compile marketing intelligence, including sales activity, production, frequently asked questions and objections raised by customers.
  • Research complex technical questions for sales force on products, planning issues, tax issues, Social Security and other retirement financial concerns.
  • Conduct periodic retirement planning seminars for customers and producers both virtually and in-person upon request.
  • Assist in entity-level presentations (in writing or in-person) where information on retiree services is required.
  • Maintain awareness of changing legal environment as it impacts investments, retirement plans and insurance products. Work with appropriate areas (compliance, communications, advice, systems, sales, administration) to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Act as a technical resource to communications on retiree marketing efforts.
  • Maintain detailed records of customer interactions, recommendations and actions according to appropriate regulations.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance.
  • FINRA 6 license and Certified Financial Planner designation required.
  • Two years of experience in the financial services industry with specialization in financial planning.
  • Knowledge of Profiles or Money Guide Pro or similar financial planning software.
  • In-depth understanding of the industry, financial concepts, product knowledge, investment management and client service strategies desired.
  • Knowledge of investment products. Familiarity with property and casualty distribution a plus.
  • Superior analytical, organizational, research, initiative and multi-tasking skills.
Working Conditions:

Normal office environment; occasional travel as needed. Must have a valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record in accordance with Nationwide standards.
