Position Overview

Role Summary:
The Operations Team Leader (OTL) plays a pivotal role in fostering a collaborative environment and will oversee the daily activities within the Ground Up Production Kitchen and Warehouse. Each Operations Team Leader is tasked with managing either the Production Kitchen or the Warehouse/Fulfillment operations.

The Production Kitchen OTL is accountable for leading production personnel, overseeing the creation and packaging of nut butter, and sourcing ingredients.

The Warehouse/Fulfillment OTL is responsible for directing warehouse and fulfillment staff, managing customer orders and shipments, and acquiring necessary shipping and warehouse supplies.

Position Type: Non-Exempt, Full-time

Compensation: $20-24/hr

Employee Benefits: Paid Holidays, PTO Accrual, Healthcare Reimbursement

Work Schedule: Varied shifts during operational hours, typically weekdays from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm. (Most of the year, with exceptions during peak seasons, the company operates on a four-day work week)

Key Responsibilities
Leadership Duties
  • Oversee a team of two to fifteen staff members.
  • Support production, fulfillment, and operational teams to meet output and quality standards.
  • Act as the Manager on Duty, guiding production and fulfillment teams.
  • Demonstrate efficiency and compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Food Safety regulations.
  • Foster a positive team culture, encouraging employee engagement and commitment to the company’s success.
  • Provide coaching, training, and constructive feedback to staff through hands-on training and regular evaluations.
  • Establish and motivate staff to achieve both long-term and short-term goals.
  • Meet production targets set by leadership through effective staff motivation.
  • Manage staff performance through corrective actions, development plans, and evaluations.
  • Conduct team meetings and huddles.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Production Responsibilities
  • Lead staff in the production and packaging of nut butter, including mixing batches, labeling containers, and managing product movement.
  • Operate and maintain production machinery such as industrial mixers and label machines.
  • Ensure quality and safety standards are consistently met for all products.
  • Source competitively priced ingredients for production in a timely manner.
  • Assist in production planning through accurate data collection and operational strategy.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Safety & Compliance
  • Uphold high standards of quality and sanitation in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in training sessions on sanitation and protocols to remain compliant with current regulations.
  • Promote a safe work culture, ensuring adherence to all safety and environmental policies.
  • Maintain sanitation practices and documentation to comply with food safety regulations.
  • Follow OSHA regulations and support a culture of safety.
Shipping & Receiving Duties
  • Manage incoming deliveries using an inventory management system for effective tracking.
  • Ensure accuracy of Bills of Lading for wholesale orders.
  • Oversee forklift operations, including maintenance and refueling.
  • Maintain a daily warehouse calendar.
  • Communicate order status changes to the leadership team.
  • Procure shipping supplies as needed.
  • Assist with freight and wholesale operations as required.
  • Implement process improvements as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Administrative Responsibilities
  • Order supplies through various vendors.
  • Manage tasks in the inventory management system, including Accounts Receivable and Payable.
  • Handle employee HR management tasks, including timecard reconciliation and scheduling.
  • Conduct staff evaluations and provide feedback.
  • Research cost reduction opportunities in supplies and shipping.
  • Ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of customer orders.
  • Provide support for order printing and packing as needed.
  • Deliver excellent customer service in person, via email, and over the phone.
Qualifications

  • Capability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Able to manage multiple projects and daily responsibilities.
  • Proficient in Google Docs, Sheets, PowerPoint, and other relevant software.
  • Physical ability to lift 25 lbs and stand for extended periods, with or without reasonable accommodation.
