Respiratory Therapist

Spaulding Hospital-Boston & Cambridge is seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, conducting diagnostic evaluations, and implementing life-sustaining techniques. You will work closely with patients and families of all age groups, from neonatal to geriatric, and require a high level of expertise in ventilator management and sophisticated diagnostic procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct respiratory assessments for all age groups accurately and timely, following established practice standards.
Develop and implement care plans that reflect the needs and goals of patients.
Provide respiratory care, evaluate, and modify to achieve goals and objectives.
Complete patient care documentation per established standards.
Administer medications safely and according to professional standards of practice and policies and procedures.
Acknowledge and carry out doctors' orders for the assigned unit.
Coordinate respiratory care activities with other care team members to facilitate achieving patient goals.
Assess and provide education to patients and families related to the disease process, underlying disability, medication, and preparation for discharge to help them develop self-care skills necessary to move toward wellness.
Provide mentoring and teaching to healthcare team members as needed, including new staff, student rotations, orientation, and completion of their initial and all staff yearly competencies.
Participate actively in team conferences and meetings to achieve stated goals.
Complete additional department, organization, or network activities per established objectives.

Qualifications
Education/Degree
Required
- Associate's Degree required.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist.
Required
- Current Massachusetts Respiratory Care License.
Required
- Basic and advanced respiratory skills.
- BLS certified.
- Computer proficiency is required. Microsoft Office applications are preferred with the ability to learn new software.
- Maintain variable work schedule to meet department needs. (evenings, holidays, weekends, and travel).
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, working with a diverse population.
- Work independently, be self-directed, and contribute as a team member.
- Anticipates challenges and develops and implements strategies for addressing them.
- High level of service delivery. Demonstrate initiative and the ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing situations.
- Attention to detail.
