Diagnostic Pathologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Pathologist to join our team at the University of California, Davis. As a key member of our department, you will be responsible for providing expert diagnostic services in mammalian and avian diseases, as well as conducting applied research and teaching duties.

• Function as a diagnostic pathologist in the California Animal Health & Food Safety Laboratory System (CAHFS) laboratory, providing expert diagnostic services in mammalian and avian diseases.
• Conduct applied research, utilizing diagnostic case material to publish results in relevant journals.
• Teach and mentor students, including local residents and graduate students, in the Department of Pathology, Microbiology & Immunology.
• Participate in university and public service, including departmental, school, and university committee work, professional organizations, and continuing education.

To be considered for this position, you must have a DVM or equivalent degree, with experience in mammalian and avian diseases. Board certification or eligibility for board certification by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP) or European College of Veterinary Pathologists (ECVP) is required. Appointment renewal to the 4th year requires ACVP or ECVP board certification.

An advanced degree in veterinary pathology or a related field is preferred. Knowledge of quality assurance, molecular diagnostics, and bacteriology is also desired.
