Position Overview:
The Logistics Operations Supervisor plays a crucial role in assisting the Transportation Manager/Director by overseeing the delivery and backhaul processes. This position involves training and managing transportation staff, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and fostering a culture of safety and security within the transportation division.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversees daily operations and safety protocols for Transportation Associates, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures and food safety standards while providing exceptional customer service.
- Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, maintaining accurate electronic logs.
- Manages labor hours and supplies within budget constraints, creating work schedules as necessary.
- Facilitates training for new hires and cross-training for existing staff.
- Supervises the effective use of company resources, coordinating repairs as needed.
- Analyzes delivery operations and productivity metrics, proposing efficiency improvements and cost-saving measures.
- Enforces company policies and procedures consistently, including food safety and record-keeping standards.
- Collaborates with Warehouse and Customer Service teams to address delivery challenges and customer concerns.
- Maintains positive employee relations through regular meetings and open communication.
- Partners with the Safety Manager to conduct training, safety inspections, and accident investigations, recommending corrective actions as needed.
- Handles management tasks such as staff selection, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
- Adheres to assigned schedules, demonstrating regular attendance and flexibility to meet workload demands.
- High school diploma or equivalent; two to four years of transportation experience or training preferred.
- A degree in Business Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is advantageous.
- Class A Commercial Driver's License is preferred but not mandatory.
- Completion of DOT regulations training is preferred.
- Knowledge of federal motor carrier safety regulations and DOT rules.
- Ability to make independent decisions in alignment with company policies.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to interpret various forms of instructions.
- Proficient in engaging and leading discussions, managing stress in a fast-paced environment.
- Competence in using technology and software relevant to the transportation industry.
Regularly required to sit, talk, and hear; frequently required to stand, walk, and bend. May need to lift and move items up to 100 pounds and push/pull up to 350 pounds.
Work Environment:
Exposure to varying weather conditions and mechanical parts; may require working non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends.
