Job Title: Sub Cook Helper/Server

St. Labre Indian Catholic School is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Sub Cook Helper/Server to join our team.

Job Summary

We are looking for a reliable and organized individual to assist in all areas of the kitchen, ensuring a clean and safe facility and providing safe and nutritious meals to students, staff, and guests.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Assist Head Cook, salad cook, or bakers in all areas of the kitchen.
  2. Prepare side dishes and/or finish preparation of the entree according to a planned menu, following specified recipes and techniques.
  3. Help with serving, monitoring hot and cold temperatures, and recording on designated forms.
  4. Take count of student and adult meals, verifying that each meal served qualifies for reimbursement.
  5. Clean and sanitize work area and equipment used, and help with deep cleaning equipment or areas assigned.
  6. Restock menu items as needed, and fill orders for food and non-food supplies from other departments.
  7. Help with decorating the cafeteria for holidays, and assist with putting away incoming supplies.
  8. Count and record all food and non-food supplies on hand at the end of each month.
  9. Report any accidents, personal injuries, or near misses to the Food Service Supervisor or Director.
Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
  • One to six months related experience and/or training preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, working knowledge of Food Service Safety and Sanitation, and ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Ability to read and write routine reports and correspondence, and perform basic mathematical operations.
  • Valid Montana driver's license preferred.
Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

Regular school year work schedule is one full week before the first day of teacher orientation and two full weeks after the last day of school; 40 hours a week, 8 hours a day with two 15 minute breaks and a 30 minute lunch break.

Due to special functions or late supply trucks, working overtime is sometimes required.

Work schedules and hours may be adjusted by the Head Cook or Food Services Director if needed.

Summer employment in the cafeteria is not guaranteed.

Dress Code and Personal Hygiene

Excellent personal hygiene practices must be followed, including clean body, hair, fingernails, clothing, and shoes.

Hair restraints, uniforms, and slip-resistant hard-toed shoes with adequate arch support are required at all times while on duty.

Uniforms will be provided by St Labre.
