Job Summary

Emory Healthcare is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic Specialist I to join our facilities management team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing equipment, patient care, and sustainability in our facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Skilled in one of the competency areas of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, steam control, and related building systems and equipment.
  • Certification and proven competency required in area of competency identified.
  • Provides guidance to maintenance mechanics and assigns and schedules work.
  • Interprets departmental and organizational policies and procedures for staff to ensure consistent practices.
  • Picks-up and distributes work assignments and gives direction to ensure work orders are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Schedules, monitors, and directs workflow.
  • Observes and reviews work produced by staff to maintain efficiency and timely services.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, drawings, schematics, and written technical documents of general machineries to locate area of trouble and complete repairs accurately.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on related equipment, buildings, and building systems to ensure safe and proper operations.
  • Shuts down equipment prior to scheduled repairs if necessary.
  • Operates and maintains building equipment and systems such as vacuum systems, control air systems, building air systems, emergency generators, electrical distribution systems, liquid pumping systems, steam, air handling systems hot/cold water systems, and natural gas and fuel oil systems.
  • Troubleshoots and diagnoses problems with assigned equipment, systems, and buildings.
  • Operates various electrical, mechanical, and plumbing equipment and systems to diagnose and maintain systems.
  • Maintains records and files.
  • Interprets applicable regulations and establishes filing and auditing policies and procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Practices all applicable safety regulations and uses personal protective equipment as required.
  • Responds to customer requests and complaints in a timely and appropriate manner; identifies and records need or problem and determines best approach to resolve situation following departmental guidelines.
  • Provides training and instruction for staff; assesses training needs, prepares materials, and shares knowledge and expertise on an ongoing basis.
Requirements
  • Associates Degree or two years of experience along with certification in area of competency.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in building maintenance or 10 years of experience in one of the competency areas.
  • Positions in this classification may require a valid Georgia driver's license and an insurable driving record.
  • Some positions within this classification may require the ability to lift 50 pounds and to bend, stoop, and twist.
