Plumbing Designer Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Plumbing Designer to join our team at Management Recruiters International. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for providing support to our engineering team and developing quality project documents.

Responsibilities
  • Support to Engineering
    • Assist in client engagement and attend client, consultant, and design committee meetings.
    • Communicate and improve design processes with other team members.
    • May manage small teams and assist other project team members in the development and maintenance of workplans.
  • Develop Quality Project Documents
    • Lead in planning, design, and documentation of projects. Prepare working drawings.
    • Participate in all design and construction phases of projects.
    • Present design to client and coordinate with other disciplines and consultants.
    • Mentor other designers and provide training and leadership through project work.
    • Participate in project debriefs and lessons learned sessions.
    • Recommend alterations to design to improve quality.
  • Meet Deadlines and Manage Personal Utilization
    • May own small projects in entirety and/or significant portions of larger projects related to project delivery.
  • Support Systems Commissioning Activities
    • Support systems commissioning activities, including site visits and functional testing - development and execution.
  • Provide Mentoring and Promote Company Reputation
    • Provide mentoring to other staff members as directed.
    • Promote company reputation through good client relations.
Qualifications
  • Design-related technical degree, Bachelor's or Professional degree in or applicable field.
  • 6-15 years of commercial plumbing design experience.
    • Experience within healthcare, higher education, and/or science & technology market sectors preferred.
  • Must be proficient with Revit.
  • CPD or CPDT preferred, but not required.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to read and interpret information.
  • Able to assume a role of authority, as necessary; sets an example for coworkers; delegates responsibility and empowers associates to make decisions and take personal accountability for decisions.
  • Able to perform work and job function with precision and accuracy; carefully monitors processes; concentrates on details, organizes and maintains a system of records.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local building codes and safety laws. Work requires advanced math skills, special relationship abilities, and the ability to understand abstract principles behind math and physics.
  • Possesses a sense of ownership in all deliverables. Utilizes knowledge and opportunity to continually strive for excellence within an empowering culture. Collaborates and supports fellow employee owners in ongoing improvements. Understands personal accountability within their role in the company.
  • Revit; Microsoft Windows environment, Microsoft Office: Word, PowerPoint, Excel; Google: Mail, Calendar, Drive, Apps; familiarity with Deltek Vantagepoint preferred.
