We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced academic administrator to serve as the Dean of Arts and Sciences at InsideHigherEd. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of academic programs and policies in the arts and sciences division.
Key Responsibilities- Provide strategic leadership and direction for the arts and sciences division, including the development and implementation of academic programs and policies.
- Oversee the recruitment, selection, and development of faculty and staff in the arts and sciences division.
- Develop and manage budgets for the arts and sciences division, including allocating resources and making financial decisions.
- Collaborate with other college administrators and departments to advance the college's strategic goals and objectives.
- Represent the college at regional and national conferences and meetings, and engage in professional development activities to stay current with trends and research in the field.
- Develop and implement assessment and evaluation strategies to measure the effectiveness of academic programs and services.
- Provide leadership and support for faculty and staff in the arts and sciences division, including mentoring, coaching, and professional development opportunities.
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including community partners, employers, and students.
- Stay current with trends and research in the field of higher education, and apply this knowledge to inform decision-making and strategic planning.
- Master's degree in a relevant field, such as higher education administration, education, or a related field.
- Three years of experience in academic administration, including experience as a department chair, associate dean, or other leadership role.
- Equivalent of five years of teaching experience in a post-secondary setting.
- Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and the various learning barriers that exist for these students.
- Demonstrated excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strategic capability and analytical skills.
- Strong problem-solving, judgement, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.
- Demonstrated commitment to the college's core values of respect and inclusion, sustainability, integrity, collaboration, humor and well-being, innovation and quality.
- Earned Doctorate.
- Experience with learning technologies and online and hybrid/blended courses.
- English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency.
- Demonstrated multicultural competence.
