Emergency Medical Care Technician

MedStar Health is seeking an Emergency Medical Care Technician to provide medical care and support in our Emergency Department. This is a challenging yet rewarding role that requires strong clinical skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
About the RoleThe Emergency Medical Care Technician will assist nurses and doctors with patient care, including taking vital signs, providing basic nursing support, and performing routine medical procedures. They will also be responsible for transporting patients and equipment around the hospital.
Responsibilities- Perform invasive and non-invasive medical procedures, such as inserting IV lines and urinary catheters, under the supervision of medical staff.
- Take vital signs and provide basic nursing support, including responding to call lights and collecting specimens from patients.
- Transport patients and equipment around the hospital using wheelchairs, stretchers, and beds.
- Assist medical staff with wound care, including immobilizing limbs and gathering supplies.
- Initiate and assist in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) as needed.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a department in-service training program within the first six weeks of employment.
- 1-3 years of clinical hospital or EMS experience, preferably in a fast-paced emergency setting.
- EMT certification and BLS certification within 60 days.
This is a full-time position with a competitive salary range of $24,675 - $36,390 per year, based on experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, paid time off, and opportunities for professional growth and development.
