Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety Plan: Develop and enforce a comprehensive food safety plan addressing chemical control, allergen management, environmental monitoring, and pest management.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Support and oversee food safety programs to ensure they meet regulatory standards.
  • Customer Support: Provide technical insights to clients regarding product specifications and quality systems.
  • New Product Development: Engage in the formulation of new products and adapt to emerging government standards.
  • Audit Performance: Conduct external SQF, HACCP, and internal GMP and sanitation audits to verify compliance.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate nutritional and ingredient statements for finished products.
  • Third-Party Coordination: Oversee third-party audits and compliance documentation for suppliers and vendors.
  • Preventive Controls: Ensure effective monitoring and validation of preventive controls.
  • Training: Educate employees on food safety protocols, including SQF and HACCP.
  • Continuous Improvement: Review and update food safety plans annually or as necessary.
Qualifications:
  • Educational Background: A B.S. in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, or a related technical field is essential.
  • Experience: 7-10+ years in food safety programs, quality systems, new product development, and technical operations support.
  • Leadership: A minimum of 5 years in food safety and quality assurance leadership within a food manufacturing environment is required.
  • Certifications: SQF Practitioner, HACCP, and PCQI certifications are preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with processing equipment, ingredients, and their interactions.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Analytical Ability: Skilled in identifying and evaluating food safety risks and quality issues.
