Overview of the Job RoleExecute a variety of technical functions associated with operating radiographic machinery and producing radiographs of specified anatomical regions.
Key Responsibilities- Operate x-ray equipment to generate radiographs of designated anatomical areas.
- Adjust machinery to ensure proper radiographic exposure in compliance with safety protocols.
- Clearly communicate x-ray procedures to patients.
- Position patients for each anatomical view utilizing positioning aids and protective gear as required.
- Monitor additional equipment and assist physicians during fluoroscopic and specialized radiographic procedures.
- Process images accurately to achieve optimal quality and align with relevant documentation for interpretation.
- Charge for radiographic services and modify orders as per established protocols.
- Maintain acceptable film quality standards by evaluating positioning, technical parameters, and collimation.
- Utilize the Image Archival System effectively.
- Provide educational support and training to affiliated radiology technology programs.
- Offer orientation to new radiologic technologists.
- Perform other related tasks as necessary.

DUHS provides opportunities for professional growth and advancement within Imaging services, including a clinical ladder program with various levels and prospects at each hospital within the health system.
Required QualificationsEducation
Completion of a program that meets eligibility criteria for certification or currently holds the necessary certification.
Experience- Level I: Must achieve certification within 18 months of employment.
- Level II: Minimum of two years' experience as a diagnostic radiology technologist.
- Level III: At least four years' experience in the specialty modality for promotion consideration.
Certifications- ARRT certification in radiography.
- ARRT certification within 18 months of hire.
- BLS certification.
