Job Summary:

Cordia Resources by Cherry Bekaert is seeking a skilled Payroll Specialist to join their team on a contract-to-hire basis. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in payroll processing, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

The Payroll Specialist will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll for employees across several business units. This includes reviewing and verifying timekeeping records, calculating and processing various payroll elements, and preparing and maintaining payroll reports.

The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of payroll taxes, benefits, and related compliance regulations. They will also be able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information with discretion.

Responsibilities:

  • Process payroll for all employees accurately and on time
  • Review and verify timekeeping records for accuracy
  • Calculate and process various payroll elements
  • Prepare and maintain payroll reports
  • Monitor and update employee records
  • Collaborate with HR, Finance, and other departments to resolve payroll-related inquiries or discrepancies
  • Stay up-to-date with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations
  • Assist in the preparation of payroll-related tax filings
  • Process and administer employee benefits
  • Support the payroll team in continuous process improvement initiatives

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field preferred
  • Minimum of two years proven experience as a Payroll Specialist or similar role
  • Proficiency in using payroll software and systems; experience with Paylocity preferred
  • Excellent mathematical skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Solid understanding of payroll taxes, benefits, and related compliance regulations
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information with discretion
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
