IT Systems Administrator

Rincon Research Corporation is seeking a highly skilled IT Systems Administrator to join our multidisciplinary R&D team. As an IT Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for providing system support, troubleshooting problems, and documenting solutions for future resolution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide system support through troubleshooting problems, and documenting solutions for future resolution.
- Proactively plan system upgrades, capacity improvements, and technology evolutions.
- Execute monthly operations cycles, including system patching, monitoring, maintenance, and tuning (through automation where possible) to provide maximum service uptime.
- Perform, optimize, and automate OS, software, and service installations.
- Build systems and architectures that scale, including hybrid cloud and cloud-ready applications and services.
- Troubleshoot, maintain integrity, and configure components along with implementing operating systems enhancements to improve reliability and performance.
- Create and maintain operational, configuration, and other standard operating procedures.
Required Background:
- Experience with Linux systems, to include deployment, service migration, and lifecycle management.
- Experience with a configuration tool like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
- Experience with storage platforms, such as SAN, NAS, and direct attached storage.
- Experience managing and maintaining enterprise services such as GitLab or Harbor.
- Experience managing and resolving vendor OS and software patches and vulnerability notices.
- CompTIA Security+ certification or DoD 8570 Level II equivalent within 90 days of hire.
- Ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI security clearance.
- US CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with disaster recovery process, including backup software, and policy creation.
- Experience with scripting such as task automation with python or bash.
- Ability to breakdown complex tasks into meaningful steps.
- The ideal candidate is able to develop and communicate a roadmap or plan, then and bring others through mentoring, training, and positive support.
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or 5+ years of directly related experience.
- Vendor certification, such as RedHat, AWS, or GCP.
- TS/SCI Clearance required and eligibility to obtain CI Poly.
- Ability to travel up to 10%.
Physical Requirements:
The employee will need to be able to lift/move/carry equipment as necessary (max 40 pounds).
Location:
This position is located at our Tucson, AZ Headquarters.
