Overview
As the Manager of Financial Accounting and External Reporting, you will be responsible for establishing and supervising the protocols, procedures, and overall framework essential for ensuring precise and timely external financial disclosures on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. You will research and spearhead the application of relevant accounting standards applicable to Broadleaf Results. This role includes overseeing the preparation of documentation to support the annual external financial audit, as well as any Agreed Upon Procedures (AUPs) and Single Audits, when necessary. You will act as a primary point of contact for external auditors during the annual audit process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Possess a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or an equivalent financial certification.
  • Demonstrate a strong preference for public accounting experience or substantial expertise in financial statement preparation, along with a solid understanding of GAAP and GASB accounting principles.
  • Have experience in federal or state grant accounting and compliance audits.
  • Hold a Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
  • Exhibit advanced proficiency in Workiva and SAP.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely preparation of external financial reports, including monthly financial packages for the Board, quarterly Treasurer's reports, and annual financial statements.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Communications to facilitate the timely preparation and publication of the annual report.
  • Oversee the completion and review of audit schedules, information requests, and inquiries to support the annual financial statement audit and any applicable audits.
  • Serve as a liaison to address inquiries from external auditors and review accounting standards to determine their applicability, leading implementation efforts as necessary.
  • Manage the accounting for finance and treasury-related transactions, including banking, debt, fuel hedging, and investment accounting.
  • Supervise the accounting and reporting for special entities, ensuring the accurate completion of financial statement audits and overseeing bookkeeping and reporting for specific programs.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements, including disclosures to relevant boards and commissions.
  • Provide guidance and development opportunities for the Financial Accounting and External Reporting team, ensuring adequate cross-training and backup for all functions.
  • Perform additional duties and participate in special project teams as assigned.

Essential Knowledge and Skills

  • Possess a CPA or a Master's degree in Accounting.
  • Have substantial public accounting experience or demonstrated expertise in financial statement preparation with a strong grasp of GAAP and GASB accounting.
  • Experience with federal or state grant accounting and compliance audits is essential.
  • Exhibit advanced knowledge of Workiva and proficiency in SAP.

Educational Requirements
Hold a Bachelor's degree in Business with a concentration in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited institution.
