Key Responsibilities
The Nursing Unit Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the delivery of quality patient care through the nursing process. This role involves coordinating care plans with the healthcare team and providing leadership to nursing staff to ensure they are well-prepared for their duties.
In addition to the primary responsibilities, the Nursing Unit Supervisor may be tasked with additional duties as needed.
- Supervises nursing personnel assigned to specific shifts, ensuring appropriate patient assignments based on staff skills and patient conditions.
- Evaluates, monitors, and provides education to nursing staff regarding patient care practices. Implements emergency protocols as required.
- Anticipates staffing requirements and proactively addresses them to maintain optimal care levels.
- Manages the inventory of medical supplies and ensures that patient records are updated, preparing the nursing floor for subsequent shifts.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) or equivalent.
- A minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience as a registered nurse.
- Valid California RN license.
- 2-3 years of experience in an emergency room setting.
- Proven leadership capabilities.
- Current certifications in CPR and BLS.
- ACLS and PALS certifications are also required.
