The City of New York is seeking a skilled Investigator to join the Investigation Division of the Department of Correction. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the integrity and professionalism of our agency.
Job Summary:The Investigator will be responsible for conducting thorough investigations into allegations of misconduct, including excessive use of force, undue familiarity with detainees, and other on or off-duty conduct unbecoming a member of the Department. You will work closely with external agencies, such as the Department of Investigation and City District Attorney's Offices, to gather evidence and build cases.
Responsibilities:- Collect and analyze forensic, audio, video, written, medical, and testimonial evidence
- Question and interview DOC uniformed and non-uniformed members of service, detained and sentenced persons, and other witnesses
- Liaise with external criminal justice agencies to gather information and build cases
- Draft reports summarizing evidentiary findings and testify before administrative tribunals
- Stay up-to-date on DOC procedures, rules, and regulations, as well as the criminal justice system
To be considered for this role, you must have a four-year high school diploma or its equivalent and four years of satisfactory full-time experience in a relevant field, such as law enforcement, corrections, or a related field. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college may also be considered. Additionally, you must have excellent communication and analytical skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
