Key Responsibilities:
  • Patrol assigned areas in a radio-equipped patrol vehicle or on foot
  • Respond to calls for assistance from the public
  • Make arrests and issue citations for violations of laws or ordinances
  • Investigate misdemeanors and felonies
  • Secure and preserve crime scenes and evidence for further investigation
  • Conduct interviews with victims, witnesses, and suspects
  • Testify in court, often during off-duty hours
  • Provide information to the general public
  • Escort and transport prisoners
  • Prepare comprehensive reports
  • Safeguard life and property
  • Rend first aid to the injured in emergency situations
Requirements:
  • Age: 21 years at time of appointment
  • Valid California Driver's License and satisfactory driving record
  • High school graduation or equivalent required
  • Successful completion of an approved California Basic Police Academy
  • Currently employed as a Police Officer or have been employed as a Police Officer within the last six months
  • College education is desirable
