BASIC PURPOSE
Support and implement the execution of the category strategy for US Foods across the designated Area. Drive recommended assortment modifications and foster positive local vendor relationships for all Distribution Centers (DCs) within the specified Area.
Assist Area and DC sales teams with product assortment updates, respond to informational inquiries, and achieve merchandising objectives for all DCs within that Area.
Address all local customer requirements within the defined Area while aligning with the national strategies established by the Center.
This position is designated to be onsite in Seabrook 4-5 days a week.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop a tailored implementation plan for the category strategy across multiple Distribution Centers. Ensure that execution aligns with the overall category strategy and objectives of US Foods, as well as the specific needs of the Area.
Analyze the product assortment for the assigned Area, evaluating product penetration, identifying slow-moving or obsolete SKUs, and recognizing growth opportunities. Accountable for driving profitable sales growth within assigned categories for their Area. Request exception SKUs as necessary to finalize the Area assortment, determine DWOs, and create conversion strategies. Ensure that the Area product assortment aligns with the US Foods category strategy while working to minimize SKU duplication. Ensure all local customer needs are met and are consistent with national strategies.
Maintain a leading role in consistently gathering local market intelligence for multiple DCs in the assigned Area (including trends) through insights and feedback from the culinary team, sales personnel, and vendor partners.
Facilitate product training and new product launches in collaboration with DSS, Specialists, and sales teams. Ensure that product and brand messaging aligns with the overall strategy of US Foods. Collaborate closely with the culinary team, conducting planning sessions to identify accounts and categories along with their potential opportunities.
Support and manage all FSQA inquiries for the assigned Area through established procedures and work in conjunction with the Region team on any national or regional vendor concerns.
Assist with significant Area-specific account proposals through comprehensive analysis, coordinate customer onboarding, and keep sales teams informed of ongoing category strategies.
Other duties as assigned by the manager.QUALIFICATIONS Education/Training:
A four-year college degree in business or a related field, or equivalent experience is required.
Related Experience:
A minimum of 7 years of experience in category management is required, with some project management experience preferred, ideally from the food service or food manufacturing sectors.
Must demonstrate the ability to operate effectively within a matrix organization, collaborating successfully with various groups. Must be capable of working in a team environment, driving organizational change, and supporting change management initiatives.
Must be able to provide data-driven recommendations across various management levels, resulting in buy-in and enhancements in category performance.
Must be self-motivated and highly driven, possessing strong business acumen, excellent interpersonal skills, and outstanding presentation abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required; working knowledge of PowerPoint is also necessary.#LI-LT1
