About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Physician Assistant to join our Cardiothoracic Surgery team at the University of California, Irvine. As a key member of our team, you will provide high-quality patient care and support our surgeons in the operating room, clinic, and hospital settings.

Responsibilities
  • Provide operative care, including endoscopic vein harvesting and surgical assist
  • Conduct outpatient clinic visits, including postoperative follow-ups
  • Provide inpatient hospital care, including CVICU/telemetry and floor care
  • Participate in inpatient rounds, write progress notes, and conduct patient education
  • Prepare discharge summaries and identify and treat patient diseases
Requirements
  • Must have a National Provider Identifier (NPI) and meet current Medicare requirements for billing
  • Must have a current DEA number
  • Must have a current, active, and unrestricted license as a Physician Assistant in the State of California
  • Must be certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners
  • Must have a minimum of one year of previous experience in cardiothoracic surgery with independent competency in endoscopic vein harvesting
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with EPIC Electronic Medical Record
  • Willingness to contribute to quality improvement projects and initiatives
