Job Summary

The Patient Care Technician plays a vital role in providing exceptional patient care at South Arkansas Regional Hospital. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will assist in the care of patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in maintaining patient stability by checking vital signs and weight, obtaining patient specimens, and recording intake and output information.
  • Provide patient comfort by utilizing resources and materials, transporting patients, answering call lights and requests, and reporting observations to nursing staff.
  • Assist patient family members and visitors as needed.
Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and demonstrate proficiency in nursing assistant care and oral communication skills. One year of experience in direct patient care is preferred, and Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification is required. Nursing Assistant Certification in the State of Arkansas is highly preferred.

Essential Job Functions
  • Uphold and demonstrate the "We Care" values in everyday activities and behavior.
  • Demonstrate ability to follow direction and perform work according to department standards under the supervision of nursing staff.
  • Observe professional ethics in maintaining confidential information acquired regarding personal, financial, medical, or employment of patients, families, and employees of SARH.
  • Demonstrate ability to measure vital signs and document, assist with total patient care, assist with activities of daily living, and other patient care tasks as assigned.
  • Demonstrate ability to use PPE appropriately and comply with all infection control practices and standards.
  • Demonstrate ability to use proper lifting techniques with proper body mechanics without causing injury to patient, self, or others.
  • Demonstrate ability to communicate all aspects of patient care with nursing staff.
  • Demonstrate the ability to follow all safety practices for patients at SARH and report hazards while initiating appropriate action.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives and Department indicators.
