Polysomnographer Technician

Job Summary

The Registered Sleep Technician performs a variety of tasks in the Cardiopulmonary Department Sleep Labs, including polysomnography diagnostic testing and scoring. This role requires effective communication with patients, families, and colleagues to explain the processes and procedures associated with patient monitoring. The Sleep Technician must demonstrate compassion, respect, and dignity in their interactions with patients and families. Additionally, they must be able to communicate effectively with physicians, leadership, and volunteers. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the continuum of care provided in the patient care department and be able to demonstrate exceptional customer service skills.

Responsibilities

* Performs polysomnography diagnostic testing and scoring

* Communicates effectively with patients, families, and colleagues

* Demonstrates compassion, respect, and dignity in interactions with patients and families

* Communicates effectively with physicians, leadership, and volunteers

* Provides exceptional customer service

* Understands the continuum of care provided in the patient care department

Requirements

* Completion of an accredited program in the field of expertise

* One to three years of related clinical experience

* Registry in the associated field is required

* Respiratory Therapist Sleep Disorder Specialty (RT/SDS) or Certified Respiratory Therapist with Sleep Disorder Specialty (CRT/SDS)

Working Conditions

* Prolonged standing and walking

* Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of objects weighing up to 30 pounds

* Exposure to hazards from electrical/mechanical/power equipment, odorous chemicals and specimens, and unpleasant elements

* May be exposed to ionizing/nonionizing radiation exposure, including x-ray and microwave
