Job SummaryThe Registered Sleep Technician is a vital member of the Cardiopulmonary Department Sleep Labs team, responsible for performing polysomnography diagnostic testing and scoring. This role requires effective communication skills to explain processes and procedures to patients and families.
Key Responsibilities- Perform polysomnography diagnostic testing and scoring
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and colleagues
- Follow ARHS policies and procedures, regulatory requirements, and standards of behavior
- Demonstrate professional conduct, effective communication, and delegation of tasks
- Manage working relationships with coworkers, physicians, and ARHS team members
- Completion of an accredited program in the field of expertise (e.g., Registered Polysomnographic Technologist, Registered Respiratory Therapist, or Certified Respiratory Therapist)
- One to three years of related clinical experience
- Registry in the associated field (e.g., Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT), Respiratory Therapist Sleep Disorder Specialty (RT/SDS), or Certified Respiratory Therapist with Sleep Disorder Specialty (CRT/SDS))
- Prolonged standing and walking
- Manual dexterity and mobility
- Exposure to hazards from electrical/mechanical/power equipment, odorous chemicals, and specimens
