Job Title: Speech Language Pathologist Assistant

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong understanding of speech and language development in children. As a Speech Language Pathologist Assistant, you will work closely with a certified Speech-Language Pathologist to provide direct therapeutic intervention to children with speech and/or language impairments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work cooperatively with the multi-disciplinary team to develop and implement individualized programs for children with speech and/or language impairments.
  • Conduct speech and/or language screenings and assessments to determine present levels of performance and progress on IEP goals.
  • Implement the individual program under the direction of a certified Speech-Language Pathologist, using a variety of teaching techniques.
  • Assess children periodically to check progress and make required changes to the program.
  • Keep accurate, up-to-date records pertinent to the program for exceptional children.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Speech Communication Disorder or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid Tennessee Health Board License with the appropriate endorsement.
  • Successful practicum experience if applicable.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • General knowledge of the policies, procedures, and activities of the School System and transportation practices as they pertain to the performance of duties relating to the job of Speech-Language Assistant.
  • Ability to learn and understand complex principles and techniques; to make independent judgments in absence of supervision; to acquire knowledge of topics related to the job of Speech-Language Assistant.
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply regulations, procedures and related information.
