We are seeking a skilled Nursing Care Specialist to join our team at TotalMed. This is an exciting opportunity to work in the vibrant city of Roanoke, Virginia.

About the Role

As a Step Down Unit Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for providing specialized care to patients transitioning from intensive care to general medical-surgical units. Your expertise will include monitoring and assessing patients' vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and respiratory status in the step-down unit.

You will administer medications, perform procedures, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care. Educating patients and families on post-intensive care recovery, medication management, and self-care techniques is also an essential part of this role.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide nursing care to patients in the step-down unit
  2. Monitor and assess patients' vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and respiratory status
  3. Administer medications and perform procedures as needed
  4. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care
  5. Educate patients and families on post-intensive care recovery, medication management, and self-care techniques
Requirements
  • Current RN license
  • BLS certification (other certifications may be required)
  • Two years of recent experience in a Step Down unit
  • Strong communication and adaptability skills
