Job Summary:

The ASPCA is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinarian to join our Animal Hospital team. As a Staff Veterinarian, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality medical care to a wide range of animals, including those in need of urgent attention.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage medical cases, providing skilled and efficient diagnosis and treatment of outpatients and hospitalized animals within hospital medical parameters and budgetary guidelines.
  • Provide a high level of customer service to external and internal clients, practicing in compliance with Fear Free guidelines.
  • Oversee admission of patients from the ASPCA Adoption Center, kitten nursery, and Animal Recovery Center, recommending treatment plans and providing inpatient care.
  • Provide medical coverage for the Animal Recovery Center, performing medical intake exams and initial diagnostics for NYPD and Community Engagement cases.
  • Collaborate with partner hospitals as needed and supervise veterinary interns on the shelter medicine rotation.

Requirements:

  • Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM degree) with NY State veterinary license.
  • Minimum 3 years small animal medicine experience without internship.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances.
