Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist to join our team at Steward Health Care. As a Medical Technologist, you will play a critical role in performing routine and specialized testing on patient specimens to obtain information used in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform testing on all specimens and ensure that results are accurate and complete.
  • Work in a team environment to accomplish Laboratory goals.
  • Possess knowledge of Medical Technology and answer inquiries from physicians and other healthcare professionals.
  • Mentor new employees and students as needed.
  • Obtain and process specimens for laboratory testing according to department/section policy and procedures.
  • Verify accuracy of test specimen before testing.
  • Perform technical procedures as required by department or supervisor.
  • Perform all testing in a timely manner as established by departmental policy.
  • Inspect instruments and verify that equipment is in proper working order before testing.
  • Ensure that test results correlate with each other and the patient's clinical situation.
  • Recheck and report to the supervisor all questionable results.
  • Follow critical value procedure.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in performing all computer tasks associated with job responsibilities.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance to assure proper operation of equipment.
  • Record procedures performed.
  • Perform quality control and quality assurance procedures and instrument checks correctly.
  • Perform analytical and decision-making functions with minimal supervision.
  • Apply step-by-step problem-solving and thinking patterns.
  • Act as charge person assigned to provide direction, support, and technical ability to others.

Education/Experience/Licensure/Technical/Other
  • Required Qualifications: MLT with Associates degree.
  • Preferred Qualifications: MT ASCP/NCA with Associates degree 2-5 years experience.
