Role Responsibilities

  • Perform splicing of fiber optic cables, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Align and fuse fiber cable ends accurately to minimize signal loss and enhance performance.
  • Utilize specialized tools to assess the integrity of fiber optic connections and troubleshoot signal issues.
  • Identify and rectify problems related to signal degradation.
  • Assist in the installation of fiber optic cables, including splicing and connecting to network systems.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and upgrades to optimize network efficiency.
  • Collaborate with technicians, engineers, and project managers to ensure installations meet company and customer standards.
  • Adhere to safety protocols while handling fiber optic materials and equipment.

Qualifications and Physical Requirements

  • Experience as a Fiber Splicer in an Outside Plant (OSP) environment, with knowledge of aerial and underground construction methods.
  • Understanding of fiber optic splicing techniques and testing methodologies.
  • Strong analytical skills for diagnosing and resolving fiber optic connection issues.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality work.
  • Valid state driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to operate hand tools and mobile devices effectively.
  • Experience in customer service, construction, or technical fields is advantageous.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 60 lbs, including ladders.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Must meet specific physical requirements for safety purposes.
