Job Summary:

Kaiser Permanente seeks a seasoned nursing leader to serve as Clinical Nursing Director, responsible for planning, organizing, and directing inpatient-nursing services within a service line. This strategic leader will collaborate with Kaiser Permanente Health Plan and Medical Group staff to develop and execute strategic plans, ensuring quality care and cost-effective services aligned with federal, state, and local regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with CNO and other medical center management to identify and implement innovative models and best practices, emphasizing quality of care, service improvements, and cost reduction.
  • Quality and Utilization: Direct the development and implementation of quality and utilization standards across the continuum of care, ensuring coordinated plans of treatment, patient-focused delivery of services, and cost-effective utilization of necessary services.
  • Partnerships and Coordination: Coordinate with TPMG to provide seamless transitions of patients across the continuum of care, establishing partnerships with facility leadership groups and ensuring a superior care experience and a safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Clinical Oversight: Provide clinical and professional oversight for areas of accountability, ensuring successful implementation of organizational strategies such as Hospital Efficiency, Workplace Safety, and Supply Cost Initiative.
  • Staff Development: Mentor nursing managers in leadership skills, fiscally accountable staffing/scheduling practices, professional development of staff, and outcomes-based practice.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Oversee the development of department standards as identified by regulatory agencies, including policies and procedures.
  • Customer Satisfaction: Develop services that achieve a high level of customer satisfaction, emphasizing customer service, highest standards of quality, and innovation.
  • Regulatory Readiness: Maintain a state of continuous regulatory readiness.
  • Human Resources: Manage and resolve human resource, labor relations, employee, and department safety and risk management issues.
  • Clinical Practice and Research: Enhance nursing practice and patient outcomes through the effective use of clinical practice and GRASP committees, utilizing research data to implement clinical changes and the delivery of patient care and member services.
  • Financial Management: Direct the budget and resource allocations for designated departments, managing the financial performance and identifying strategies to reduce costs and improve quality of care and services.
  • Community Relations: Communicate effectively as a hospital advocate to members of the community, continually seeking ways to improve and promote the public relations objective of the hospital and marketing services.
Requirements:
  • Experience: Minimum seven (7) years of nursing experience in patient care and five (5) years of management experience required.
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, with a Master's in Nursing or a Bachelor's in Nursing with a Master's degree in a related field.
  • License and Certification: Registered Nurse License (California) required at hire.
  • Additional Requirements: Demonstrate strong interpersonal communication skills, ability to lead and manage through influence and change, proven ability to deliver results for meeting organizational objectives, and knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations.
