Position Overview:

A proficient Fiber Optic Technician will be responsible for the accurate termination, splicing, and preparation of fiber optic cables within a telecommunications framework.

The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of telecommunication network architecture and be well-versed in fiber optic cables, splice enclosures, and their respective functionalities. The role requires the operation of OTDR and fusion splicing testing equipment.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Read, interpret, and analyze data with a high level of precision.
  • Demonstrate self-motivation and the ability to work under time constraints.
  • Operate technical equipment, including computers, OTDR, and fusion splicing tools.
  • Understand fiber optic color codes and interpret prints in both underground and aerial environments.
  • Complete daily production reports detailing work performed.
  • Maintain attention to detail and proficiency in paperwork.
  • Utilize hand tools, ladders, and equipment effectively to complete assigned tasks.
  • Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of supplies, tools, and work areas to comply with safety regulations.
  • Lift and manipulate splice enclosures and other equipment as necessary.
  • Work safely, independently or under supervision.
  • Exhibit excellent manual dexterity and the ability to work in confined spaces for extended periods.
  • Perform tasks at heights using ladders or aerial lift devices.
  • Fulfill additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in fiber optic splicing.
  • Familiarity with hand tools and equipment such as wrenches, drills, ladders, and saws.
  • Possession of basic hand tools is required.
  • Ability to lift and pull cables weighing up to 70 pounds.
  • Capability to follow detailed written or verbal instructions.
  • Willingness to work during emergencies, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Availability for on-call duties.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions.
  • Valid Driver's License; CDL License is advantageous.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening, background check, and motor vehicle record check.
