Information Systems Security Expert Job Description

Estimated salary: $140,000 - $200,000 per year.

H2 Performance Consulting is seeking an experienced Information Systems Security Expert to support our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cybersecurity and experience working with Cisco networks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cybersecurity Governance: Develop and implement effective cybersecurity governance strategies to ensure compliance with federal and organizational standards.
  • Threat Assessment: Conduct regular threat assessments and vulnerability scans to identify and mitigate potential security risks.
  • Endpoint Security Management: Oversee endpoint security management, including patch management, to ensure systems are up-to-date and protected.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with IT and cybersecurity teams to identify and address security risks and vulnerabilities.
  • Incident Response Planning: Develop and implement incident response plans to ensure timely and effective responses to security incidents.
  • Compliance Reporting: Maintain accurate and timely compliance reporting, including documentation of security policies, procedures, and compliance activities.
  • Professional Development: Stay current with industry trends and developments, and provide training and guidance to team members on best practices in cybersecurity.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and standards, including DoD security requirements.
  • Security Solution Evaluation: Evaluate and recommend security solutions to ensure they meet security requirements for processing up to classified information.
  • Confidentiality and Integrity: Maintain confidentiality and integrity of sensitive information, and protect against unauthorized access, modification or destruction of network components and stored data.
  • Host Connection Management: Establish, maintain, and document host connections to the NHRC network.
  • Network Access Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot network access problems and implement network security policies and procedures.
  • Information System Security: Perform Information System Security Officer (ISSO) duties, including vulnerability mitigation, patch management, and compliance reporting using enterprise cybersecurity tools.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Clearance: Minimum SECRET clearance.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a technical or managerial related discipline or High School Diploma or GED. Individual shall meet the latest Cybersecurity workforce certification/training in accordance with DoD 8570.1M and subsequent DoD 8140 manual as applicable.
  • Required Certifications:
    • CompTIA Security+ or CASP or CISSP: At least one of the following certifications is required.
    • Cisco CCNA or CCNP: At least one of the following certifications is required, depending on the specific requirements of the position.
  • Experience:
    • Cybersecurity Field Experience: Five years with Bachelor's degree or seven years with HS/GED of practical experience demonstrating competency in the specified field.
    • Cisco Networks Knowledge: Working knowledge of Cisco networks, including experience with security policies and guidance documents.
    • RMF Process Knowledge: Familiarity with the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process and experience with security solutions to ensure they meet security requirements for processing up to classified information.
    • Security Policy and Compliance Knowledge: Experience assisting or developing system security policy and ensuring compliance of change management and configuration control processes.
