Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate LPN to serve as a Charge Nurse at South Carolina Baptist Ministries of Aging. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for supervising and directing daily nursing activities and care of residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and Direct Nursing Activities: Oversee the daily delivery of resident care, monitor and schedule job assignments, and develop nursing unit priorities.
  • Lead by Example: Participate in care plan meetings, develop and carry out residents' plans of care, and evaluate resident response to nursing interventions.
  • Ensure Quality Care: Monitor residents' overall mental and physical status for changes and report condition changes, complete quality care audits, and ensure cleanliness, safety, and orderliness of equipment and work areas.
  • Provide Direct Care: Provide direct resident care when needed, complete treatments, procedures, and administer medications, document all pertinent information, and protect privacy and confidentiality of residents and employees.
  • Compliance and Regulatory Affairs: Ensure compliance with regulations from DHEC, Fire and Safety, OSHA, Labor Laws, etc., and adhere to HIPAA confidentiality standards and Resident's Rights.
Requirements
  • Education and Licensure: LPN or RN certificate, current SC LPN or RN license.
  • Experience and Skills: Experience in geriatric nursing, medication administration, IV therapy, wound care, G-tube, skilled in basic life support (BLS) and CPR, supervisory/management experience with staff development, training, and scheduling.
  • Knowledge and Abilities: Understanding of legal regulations, policies, and resident rights, knowledge of the aging process, and ability to make sound, independent decisions, computer skills including Microsoft Office, time management, and electronic medical record systems.
  • Personal Qualities: Strong communication, motivational, and problem-solving skills, ability to maintain composure in various situations, and be organized, flexible, and a team player.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50 pounds or more.
  • Work Environment: Exposure to biological agents, scheduled work during off hours including weekends, nights, or holidays.
