The Charge Nurse (LPN) supervises and directs daily nursing activities and care of residents under the supervision of the Director of Nursing or designee and as prescribed by the physician, ensuring compliance with accepted standards of nurse practice and regulation.
Key responsibilities include promoting a positive physical and psychosocial environment for the residents, working collaboratively with leadership and other staff members to support the Mission and Values of SCBMA, and ensuring compliance with all regulations from DHEC, Fire and Safety, OSHA, Labor Laws, etc. and adhering to HIPAA confidentiality standards and Resident's Rights.
Additionally, the LPN Charge Nurse is responsible for supervising nursing staff in the daily delivery of resident care, monitoring and scheduling job assignments and developing nursing unit priorities, overseeing CNA duties and responsibilities, participating in care plan meetings, developing and carrying out residents' plan of care, evaluating resident response to nursing interventions and altering care plan through ongoing assessments, and completing quality care audits as assigned by Director of Nursing.
The ideal candidate will have a current SC LPN license, 1 yr working in geriatric nursing, including experience with medication administration, delivery systems and experience in IV therapy, wound care, G-tube, skilled in basic life support (BLS), CPR, and 1 yr in a supervisory/management position with experience in staff development, training and scheduling.
Required qualifications include LPN or RN certificate, current SC LPN or RN license, 1 yr working in geriatric nursing, including experience with medication administration, delivery systems and experience in IV therapy, wound care, G-tube, skilled in basic life support (BLS), CPR, and 1 yr in a supervisory/management position with experience in staff development, training and scheduling.
The successful candidate will be able to make sound, independent decisions, as circumstances warrant, and have strong communication and motivational skills, including problem resolution in both resident care and employee management situations.
Physical demands of the job include the ability to lift 50 pounds or more, and exposure to biological agents such as viruses and other microbes.
The work environment requires the ability to work during off hours including weekends, nights or holidays.
