We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Senior Patient Services Representative to join our team at Christus Health. As a key member of our patient services team, you will play a vital role in ensuring a positive and efficient experience for our patients and visitors.
Key Responsibilities- Patient Check-in and Verification: Maintain the flow of patient check-in, verify demographic and insurance information, and enter it into our computer database. Ensure that patient account information is accurate and up-to-date.
- Communication and Scheduling: Assist with answering phones, taking messages, and responding to patient and staff inquiries. Schedule appointments for patients in accordance with physician guidelines.
- Payment and Collections: Collect time of service payment amounts, collect prior balance amounts, and arrange payment plans as requested.
- Administrative Support: Assist with various administrative duties, such as front-end tasks, denials, work queues, and correcting errors to ensure clean claims.
- Patient Registration: Check in patients, verify and update necessary information in the medical record, and assist patients with completing all necessary forms.
- Scheduling and Coordination: Schedule appointments according to clinician template and follow office scheduling policies.
- Confidentiality and HIPAA: Maintain strict confidentiality and follow CHRISTUS Health guidelines related to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) to prevent or detect unauthorized disclosure of Protected Health Information (PHI).
- Communication and Teamwork: Use oral and written communication skills to effectively convey ideas in a clear and positive manner that is consistent with the CHRISTUS Mission. Maintain established CHRISTUS Health policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Three or more years of experience in a healthcare organization.
- Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, good math knowledge, and ability to operate a 10-key calculator, telephone, computer, copier, and fax machine.
- Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of managed care, ICD9 and CPT coding, and experience with charge posting or collections.
