Overview: The Interconnection Projects division is responsible for managing and facilitating the integration of new generation and merchant transmission initiatives into the PJM system, alongside the implementation of network enhancements to guarantee the long-term reliability and sufficiency of the PJM framework. This division collaborates with transmission owners and project developers to oversee all engineering activities related to transmission expansion associated with the integration of new generation resources.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as a liaison and establish necessary external interfaces between PJM and key stakeholders, including transmission owners, generation, project developers, and other relevant entities concerning the design and scheduling of new connections to the PJM bulk power system.
  • Develop and coordinate project work plans for generation and transmission system reinforcement initiatives that cater to multiple customer requirements across various transmission owner systems.
  • Execute project management duties related to setting timelines and tracking the achievement of milestones and critical path tasks from engineering design to the finalization of the interconnection service agreement.
  • Proactively collaborate with other PJM divisions to align system reinforcement requirements.
  • Coordinate, create, and issue interconnection studies and agreements pertaining to generation and merchant transmission projects.
  • Evaluate and analyze existing project management methodologies and advocate for the development of innovative methods and the adoption of advanced progress monitoring technologies in construction activities.
  • Formulate and implement tactical plans that align with the division/department strategy.
Qualifications:
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in major substation and transmission line construction and maintenance, or generation operations, construction, and maintenance activities.
  • Proficiency in producing high-quality work with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Experience in both quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • Ability to apply mathematical and electrical principles.
  • Capability to troubleshoot and provide technical assistance.
Preferred:
  • Master's degree in Engineering.
  • Familiarity with PJM operations, markets, and planning functions.
  • Experience with PSS/e (power system analysis program).
