Qualifications and Requirements:

  1. 2 to 3 years of coaching experience in High School or Club Soccer is essential.
  2. A high school diploma or equivalent is required (Bachelor's degree is preferred).
  3. Must possess a valid CA license (Class C) along with current insurance coverage.
  4. A clean driving record is necessary (a DMV report will be requested).

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to adhere to and promote the policies and mission of KIPP Public Schools Northern California.
  • Familiarity with the rules and regulations of the assigned sports is required for all coaches.
  • Capability to foster and maintain positive relationships with faculty, staff, students, parents, and community members.
  • Ability to manage a classroom environment professionally.
  • Must be flexible, reliable, punctual, and maintain a professional demeanor with enthusiasm.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are necessary; effective communication via email and phone is essential.
  • Access to reliable transportation throughout the Bay Area is required.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a small team.
  • Competence in coaching athletes with varying skill levels is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

Coaching Duties:

  • Plan, organize, and lead the assigned soccer team.
  • Instruct and demonstrate necessary skills and techniques for both individual and team development.
  • Clearly communicate and enforce team rules and regulations regarding athlete conduct and eligibility.
  • Organize, promote, and conduct tryouts for the soccer program; inform the Athletic Department and participants of final selections while maintaining the integrity of the selection process.
  • Consult with the Athletic Director on off-season training programs, including scheduling for summer camps and practices.
  • Create a safe and conducive environment for learning, promoting the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  • Supervise athletes at all times during practices and games, ensuring their safety until they are picked up by guardians.
  • Exemplify good sportsmanship and maintain appropriate conduct towards opposing teams, fans, and officials.

Training Requirements:

  • Complete necessary safety training for basic first aid and injury prevention.
  • At the time of hire, completion of Fundamentals of Coaching or a similar certification is required.

Physical and Mental Demands:

Physical:

Ability to navigate various school campuses and hold meetings in different locations. The role may involve prolonged periods of sitting and occasional lifting of equipment.

Mental:

Ability to manage stress from deadlines, analyze problems, and concentrate for extended periods while performing routine tasks.

Environmental:

Work will primarily take place in gym or field environments with both participants and spectators present. Frequent travel throughout the Bay Area is required, adhering to health and safety guidelines.

Classification:

This is a seasonal, part-time, non-exempt hourly position aligned with the school calendar.

Compensation:

The position offers a rate of $20 per hour for an expected 50 hours during the season.
