Position Overview

Key Responsibilities: This outline provides clarity on the expectations for this role. While not exhaustive, it highlights essential skills and knowledge areas:

  • Understand the proper handling, maintenance, and operation of various surveying instruments and equipment.
  • Competently operate and perform basic adjustments on surveying tools such as total stations, levels, and data collectors.
  • Conduct mathematical validations using trigonometry, geometry, and basic surveying calculations.
  • Utilize hand-held calculators effectively for surveying tasks.
  • Execute traverse and level loop computations, ensuring precision and accuracy.
  • Familiarity with measurement principles and error analysis is essential.
  • Perform calculations related to lot areas and intersections.
  • Have a foundational understanding of land use regulations pertinent to site development.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of basic surveying principles, including leveling, traversing, and construction surveys.
  • Familiarity with GPS and geographical information systems.
  • General understanding of various surveying disciplines, including hydrographic and photogrammetric surveying.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and organized field notes for standard surveying operations.
  • Proficiency in using calculators or software for data entry and positional information generation.
  • Understanding of control point records and data interpretation.
  • Basic knowledge of CAD applications and design coordination.
  • Awareness of surveying ethics and standards from recognized organizations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Capability to navigate varied terrains and weather conditions.
  • Physical stamina for climbing and bending as necessary.

Educational Background:

  • A 2-year Associate's degree or a 4-year Bachelor's degree in Surveying/Surveying Technology, or equivalent experience is preferred.
