Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Professional to join our Pediatric Orthopaedic team at West Virginia University Health System. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide comprehensive care to pediatric orthopaedic patients, collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Manage comprehensive and individualized care for pediatric orthopaedic patients and their families in the inpatient phase of hospitalization, immediately post-discharge, and in the ambulatory setting.
  • Complete daily rounds, consults, and pre-procedure evaluations as applicable.
  • Perform and communicate results of diagnostic tests following established clinical guidelines and scope of practice.
  • Develop a comprehensive individualized plan of care for pediatric orthopaedic patients, including teaching, perioperative planning, discharge planning, and necessary referrals to other members of the healthcare team.
  • Collaborate with pediatric orthopaedic faculty and other healthcare professionals to facilitate creative problem-solving and provide professional support.
  • Participate in clinical trials and research studies with the Principal Investigator.
  • Assist in the collection of outcome measures and provide leadership in the development and implementation of changes in pediatric orthopaedic practice that positively impact patient outcomes.
Requirements
  • Graduate of a CCNE-accredited nursing program with a Master's Degree in Nursing.
  • National Certification by one of the recognized APRN Certification Centers.
  • Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a professional Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in West Virginia.
  • Successful completion of AORN-accredited CNOR program and RNFA certification for surgical first assist.
  • BLS Certification required with additional Advanced Life Support training at the discretion of the department.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Orthopaedic, pediatric, or surgical experience preferred.
