QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree or higher in Speech and Language Pathology or Communication Disorders, along with a valid TX license for Speech and Language Pathology issued by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), or a Bachelor's degree with a Texas Educator Certificate in Speech and Hearing Therapy (PK-12) and/or a valid TX license for Speech and Language Pathology granted by TDLR.
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) is preferred.
  • Familiarity with federal and state regulations and guidelines pertaining to speech and language therapy services.
  • Understanding of assessment methodologies, procedures for evaluations, report writing post-evaluation, and participation in ARD/IEP meetings, including documentation and facilitation of meetings, IEPs, therapy delivery (e.g., activities, materials, timing, curriculum alignment), and service documentation.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Basic proficiency in computer and technology skills (e.g., email, electronic calendars, keyboarding, and the capacity to learn new software applications).
  • Ability to focus on detailed tasks.
  • Capability to effectively communicate and collaborate with a diverse range of district personnel.
  • Exhibit adaptability to navigate the challenges of a rapidly evolving environment.
  • Commitment to staying updated with the latest advancements in the field.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver speech therapy services to students within the designated caseload.
  • Conduct assessments and consultations related to speech and language in various environments.
  • Participate in ARD/IEP committee meetings for students requiring speech therapy services, ensuring necessary documentation is provided.
  • Attend MTSS/SST meetings for students referred due to speech and language concerns.
  • Facilitate referrals for additional evaluations and consultations as necessary.
  • Provide guidance and education to parents, caregivers, staff, and other professionals regarding speech and language disorders and therapy services.
  • Interpret and clarify assessment results to ARD/IEP committees.
  • Develop therapy plans tailored to students' IEPs and educational curricula.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation, including progress notes for therapy provision, Medicaid billing, progress reports for parents, evaluation reports, ARD/IEP paperwork, and communication with other professionals and community resources as appropriate.
  • Regularly update parents on student progress as determined by the ARD committee.
  • Adhere to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Texas Education Agency (TEA) regulations, and TDLR guidelines regarding the provision of special education services related to speech and language.
  • Engage in network team meetings.
  • Contribute to the district's Medicaid initiatives.
  • Stay informed about current trends in speech-language pathology and continue to enhance professional skills.
  • Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
