Job Summary

Ocean Spray Cranberries is seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Quality Technician to join our operations team. As a Quality Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring that all food quality standards are met at our Markham production facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct quality testing, analysis, and review to ensure production quality and schedule standards are being achieved.
  • Train and support manufacturing personnel in quality systems to maximize product quality.
  • Initiate problem-solving activities relating to quality parameter issues.
  • Support the continuous training, record keeping, and maintenance of food safety and quality practices within the plant.
  • Act as a point of contact and provide professional judgment and evaluation to suggest resolution to food safety and quality concerns.
  • Support and promote food safety and quality program initiatives within the plant environment.
  • Calibrate, troubleshoot, maintain, and operate all lab equipment.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures, including laboratory safety and chemical handling.
  • Perform QA verification of cleaned equipment and support/assist with sanitation.
  • Perform Positive Release duties and micro testing when required.
  • Perform FM investigations and product holds when required.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's Degree or Associates Degree in Food Science or related field preferred.
  • 1-3 years prior production/manufacturing experience or 2+ years relevant lab technician experience.
  • Food/beverage industry experience a plus.
  • Requires good mathematical ability to perform quality-related calculations, good analytical skills, and effective interpersonal communication skills to work constructively in a team environment.
  • Requires good computer, Word processing, and email skills.
  • Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to meet deadlines and accomplish tasks accurately while working under pressure.
  • Ability to recognize trends, situations, and risks to product quality or food safety and timely and properly communicate those findings.
