Position Overview:

The Stroke Nurse Navigator plays a crucial role within our multidisciplinary team, bringing specialized nursing expertise in stroke care. This position is designed for a dedicated professional who will serve as a clinical resource, advocate, and educator, aiming to assist patients in navigating the complexities of the healthcare system. The primary objective is to ensure that individuals diagnosed with stroke or TIA receive comprehensive and high-quality services throughout their care journey.

The responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating patient care from diagnosis through recovery.
  • Conducting concurrent and retrospective reviews of stroke patient records.
  • Abstracting data on compliance with stroke core measures and hospital policies.
  • Providing essential data to relevant regulatory bodies.

Qualifications:

1. A minimum of three years of nursing experience, with at least two years in stroke patient care preferred.

2. Current RN licensure in the District of Columbia or eligibility for licensure.

3. A nursing baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution.

4. Certification as a Stroke Certified Registered Nurse (SCRN) from the American Board of Neuroscience Nursing, or the ability to obtain certification within 12 months of hire.

5. NIH Stroke Scale and CPR certification are required.

Salary Range:

The hourly wage ranges from a minimum of $43.57 to a maximum of $67.53, with compensation commensurate with experience and role responsibilities.
