Patient Care Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Patient Care Specialist to join our team at the University of New Mexico - Hospitals. As a Tele-Monitoring Associate, you will play a critical role in promoting patient safety and well-being through continuous remote monitoring and surveillance.
Key Responsibilities- Observe patients to ensure their safety and well-being, reporting observations to the Charge Nurse or designated staff member.
- Provide basic patient care, including taking and recording vital signs, and assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs) as instructed.
- Maintain a therapeutic plan of care and provide minute-to-minute care for patients at extreme risk to themselves or others.
- Complete documentation as required on the Electronic Medical Record.
- Participate in educational programs, read current literature, and attend in-services, meetings, and workshops to enhance professional growth and development.
- High School or GED Equivalent
- CNA/PCT/MA certification
- Bilingual English, Spanish, Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo (optional)
- CPR for Healthcare/BLS Provider or Professional Rescuer certification within 30 days
This role requires heavy work, exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.
The working conditions include a high level of safety hazard, requiring the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and limited access to the medical room, with a medical administration policy in place.
