Job Summary:

Amergis is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Teacher for Visually Impaired Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our educational staff, you will be responsible for providing students with visual impairments with appropriate learning experiences and activities designed to promote social, intellectual, and emotional growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Implement Instructional Programs: Design and implement individualized educational plans for visually impaired students, taking into account their unique learning styles and needs.
  • Assistive Technology Expertise: Instruct students in the use of assistive technology devices and software designed for blind and visually impaired individuals.
  • Lesson Planning and Preparation: Prepare and implement lessons that accommodate diverse learning styles, including braille and large print materials.
  • Progress Monitoring and Reporting: Conduct regular assessments of student progress and achievement, and compile reports and records as required.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with other teachers, parents, and school district staff to ensure seamless communication and coordination of student services.

Requirements:

  • Education and Certification: Bachelor's degree from an accredited university and valid state teaching certificate as required by state regulations.
  • Experience: One year of experience as a teacher for the visually impaired preferred.
  • Skills and Abilities: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, proficiency in English language, and computer skills.
