Role Overview: The Culinary Specialist plays a vital role in our community's culinary program, providing hands-on cooking and ensuring exceptional quality service and cleanliness at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain community standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and operational organization.
- Adhere to food quality, appearance, and presentation standards consistently.
- Prepare and serve menu items that comply with required nutritional and dietary guidelines.
- Engage with residents to assess food service quality, making necessary adjustments to enhance the dining experience.
- Foster a culture of hospitality; all team members are expected to deliver excellent customer service in all interactions.
- Ensure a sanitary work environment, complying with local codes and policies for food storage, handling, and serving.
- Conduct inspections of food storage areas and perform administrative tasks to manage equipment and supplies.
- Maintain a clean and organized dining area.
- Obtain and uphold Serv Safe/Food Handler's Permit.
- Plan and prepare food for activities, marketing, and special events as needed.
- Demonstrate tact and friendliness when interacting with residents, families, and visitors.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Culinary Experience.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in restaurant or senior living culinary roles.
- Ability to make independent decisions and interact tactfully with residents, families, and team members.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for directing team members.
- Exhibit genuine compassion for cognitively impaired older adults.
- Show sincere concern for the physical and emotional needs of older individuals and their families.
- Must receive the annual flu vaccine, with exceptions for religious or medical reasons.
