Job Summary

Certified Laboratories Inc is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Lab Assistant. This role is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratory, including sample receiving, splitting, and testing.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of laboratory procedures and be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. They will also possess excellent communication skills and be able to interact with clients, suppliers, and vendors as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receiving and logging customer samples into the LIMS system with accuracy
  • Splitting samples between departments
  • Ensuring timeliness, accuracy, and reliability of work
  • Adhering to the daily work schedule
  • Making suggestions and recommendations regarding products and specifications
  • Performing clerical reviews to ensure accuracy
  • Ensuring all samples are labeled correctly and stored at the appropriate temperatures
  • Maintaining a clean and organized sample receiving/splitting room
  • Participating in special projects as assigned by the Manager/Supervisor
  • Keeping the Manager/Supervisor informed of issues or problems within the department
  • Interacting with clients, suppliers, and vendors as required
  • Learning new techniques and technologies and training others as appropriate
  • Working effectively with other departments
  • Responsible for the execution of all ISO and QC requirements
  • Stocking and ordering supplies as needed
  • Assisting with sample retention and retrieval
  • Assisting with purchasing and inventory
  • Assisting with media preparation
  • Assisting with laboratory glassware cleaning
  • Assisting with general laboratory housekeeping tasks

Requirements:

  • High school diploma
  • Knowledge of good aseptic technique and behaviors that can reduce cross-contamination
  • Good conceptual basis in laboratory setting with proven ability to perform basic lab techniques
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Time management skills
  • Training skills
  • Strong relevant qualitative and quantitative skills
  • Excellent arithmetic skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Manual dexterity
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods and lift up to 40 lbs
