Key Responsibilities- Register patients, collect insurance and payment information, and obtain signatures for patient certification and assignment of benefits.
- Enter diagnosis codes, receive and balance payments, and ensure accurate charges are entered into the computer.
- Provide medical information to requesting agencies, type correspondence and reports, and file information.
- Enter medical record information, assist with scheduling referrals, and maintain an organized filing system.
- Participate in in-service programs, quality improvement initiatives, and work collaboratively with the healthcare team to coordinate patient care services.
- Maintain good public relations for the clinic and perform other duties as needed.
- High school graduate or equivalent; college-level training and office management skills preferred.
- Previous clerical and office management experience preferred but not required.
- Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
- Typing speed of 35 WPM.
- Ability to operate computer, typewriter, computer printer, and adding machine.
- Small amount of standing required.
- Considerable amount of walking during the course of a normal work day.
- Minimum lifting of 15 to 20 pounds.
- Essential for dealing with the public while admitting patients and operating various office equipment.
